  Back to Kids' Voices Hannah

My name is Hannah and I am nine years old. I was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (in September 2004). I don't like having diabetes because I have to get shots four times a day. My family helps me a lot. My brother and sister sometimes give me my shots. Right now I don't like giving myself shots. I don't really know what it means to me yet because it is still so new. I love playing soccer and riding my horse. I compete in gymkhanas and play AYSO soccer. It will be hard for you when you first get diabetes until you get used to getting a lot of shots and flu shots. I don't have a pump yet.

I like doing 4-H and going to the fair. In 4-H you can do pig, lamb, steer, horse, goat, dogs, sport shooting, and arts-n crafts. I like raising my animals and taking them to the fair. I like going to all the meetings. You have to be nine years old to do 4-H. I get my animals when they are babies. My favorite animals are dogs. I like the color yellow and blue.

Hannah receives email at Crazy4soccer[@]thevine.net.
