Hello. My name is Matt. I turned 15 years old in August 2005. I was diagnosed with diabetes in July 1994 when I was four years old. I do three injections per day now but I am going to try to start with an insulin pump soon. We just have to try to find the one that will work the best for me. I live in Newfoundland Canada. I have been to diabetes camp at leat 4-5 times and I love it there. We have a great time. I would like to hear from others who have diabetes.
I have a little sister, Natasha. She was 3 years old in August, 2005. Just before she turned three, she was diagnosed with diabetes. She was in Pediatric ICU for four days becuase she had DKA. She is fine now. She gets 2 injections a day. Natasha doesn't mind the finger pokes, but she hates the injections.
After I get my pump, and she gets to watch me use it for a while, then our parents will get one for her too. I try to take care of my little sister so that she doesnt be too scared of diabetes.
I would like to hear from other kids, if they would like to chat. My email address is
D.Bickford AT nl.rogers.com.
