Hello. My name is Hans. I'm from Belgium. I discovered my diabetes in february 2004. When I heard that I had diabetes, I was shocked and I was crying. I didn't know anything about diabetes. I whent to the hospital and they measured my blood sugar level. It was 500 and I had ketones! Not good. Then they put a needle in my arm with an IV of sugar water, salt water and insulin.
I had a whole computer on my arm! It was all very shocking for me, because it went so fast. But when my friends and family came to visit me I was happy again. And he hospital was very good and everyone was nice there. I could drink delicious English tea and watch lots of movies.
In the beginning I thought my whole life was screwed up, but now, it's just part of my life. For someone who has just discoverd his/her diabetes, don't let it get down and when you do, think of your family!
