Hi, my name is Robyn and I am 11 years old. I have type 1 diabetes. I was diagnosed on January 6, 2003. I live in South Africa. I am the only child in my whole school with Diabetes. It started when my dad got shot. The doctors say that it was the shock. I lost a lot of weight and after that I was really ill so my mom took me to the doctor. He said that I had pneumonia but he had a doubt and referred me to hospital which is about 25 km from our home. I take my shots 4 times a day it's not so bad but when I started it was horrible my mom needed to give it to me. I think diabetes is a way of life (except for the insulin).
