  Back to Kid' Voices Heidi

Hello.

My name is Heidi and I was diagnosed with diabetes in August 2008. I'm thirteen years old, but I'm going to be fourteen soon. :-) The doctors don't really know what type of diabetes I have, because I don't match the description for either one. I just started taking insulin (the shots) last week. I really don't like it. I used to have this terrible phobia of needles (which I still have a little bit) but it's subsiding some, it kind of has to when you have diabetes. I don't mind the diet change, most of the time. Sometimes it does get on my nerves though. :-) My family are the best at supporting me though! They eat only what I can eat, when I can eat it, and they all walk my mile with me daily. It's been raining lately so that hasn't been happening, but once it dries up, we will again. :-)

I put on two pictures. One is of me, and the other is my amazingly fantastic, totally brilliant, one of a kind 28 year old Morgan mare named Lyndy. I absolutely adore horses, everything about them. I don't mind the work. I love grooming and riding, feeding, or just hanging out. I also love to write, I want to be an author when I grow up. I'm writing a book series right now. I just finished the first one around Christmas! I was so excited. :-)

Now you know some stuff about me. I don't know anyone who has diabetes, besides my uncle's new wife.

So I would really like a pen-pal. :-)
Thanks for reading my page!!!!! :-)

Nickers and Neighs,
Heidi
