Hi! My name is Jack. I'm ten years old and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on July 13, 2009. I hadn't been feeling well for awhile. I was drinking all the time and going to the bathroom tons. My appetite was bad, I was tired a lot, and I even had blurry vision. My parents took me to the doctor and my blood sugar was 455. We had to go to Children's Hospital where I had to stay overnight.
I'm getting used to counting carbs and giving myself my insulin. At first I was pretty scared, but then I tried it and realized I could do it! Sometimes I get depressed that I can't just eat what I want, when I want, but I'm getting used to that too. I've been low a few times, but so far I was able to feel it, so I told my mom.
So here's a little bit about me. I have two older brothers. Teddy is 12 and Alex is 15. I also have two dogs and three hamsters! I'm going into fifth grade. I like to play video games, swim, play the piano, and read. I also like going on the boat with my mom and dad.
You can email my mom and dad at
