Hi my name is Shannon and I am almost fourteen, and I will be going into 9th grade in the fall. I live in the USA in Pennsylvania. I really want someone who is around my age to talk to about diabetes. I don't really know anyone who is diabetic around here and sometimes I feel like I have no one who can relate to the challenges of being diabetic. I was diagnosed at age four in November of 1999 which means I've had it for about ten years. I don't think I was told that I had diabetes right away just that I had to go to the hospital. When I said I was hungry they had to give me a shot before I ate and I was horrified at that. Little did I know that shots would become a huge part of my life. I would love to have a pen pal. I enjoy all sports, especially soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, and I also like texting my friends, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and writing.
