My name is Shelia Stover and my daughter Brooke has had diabetes for five years. I myself have had diabetes for about ten years. We've both gone through some tough times, but somehow we always manage to get through them. I thank the Lord each night that He's spared both of our lives on more than one occasion.
Brooke has had a great problem with ketoacidosis over the past few years, but that problem is believed to be solved now. When Brooke was born, doctors didn't think she was going to live. The umbilical cord was wrapped around her throat three times. Brooke was also born with yellow jaundice and bacterial pneumonia. She was incubated for ten days after delivery and then she came home with us, healthy and whole. We've witnessed several other miracles such as this one during Brooke's life, but we won't go into that.
I have three children. My oldest son, Craig, is married with a beautiful four year old daughter named Allison. My next son, Brent, is getting married in March of 1997 to a bright beautiful young girl. I am 41 years old, Craig is 22 years old, Brent is 19 years old, and Brooke is 15 years old. On July 23, 1996, my husband, Wayne, and I will celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Wayne is 43 years old. I ask that everyone keep us in your prayers.
