This picture was taken in January 2002, approximately 5 months after Jake's diagnosis. He started pumping the same week this picture was taken. Jake is 9 years old, in the 4th grade and plays soccer. We live in Grapevine, Texas.

The Harral Family
The picture was taken at a family wedding, May 2002. Jake (21) Josh (19) Sharon, Jim and Sean (7). Sean was diagnosed January 26, 1999. We live in Nebraska. Mom has a hard time keeping up with all the boys and the activities that boys enjoy.

The Hedberg Crew
We live about 30 miles east of Cincinnati, Ohio in a small town called Owensville. We are active in our United Methodist Church, Girl Scouts, Masons, and Lions Club. The girls play fast pitch softball. Lindsey is the manager for her 8th grade Girls Volleyball team. Norm am I both play Sand Volleyball. I also play indoor Volleyball. I have a Child Day Care in our home. This lets me stay at home with our children. Norm is a supervisor for AOL Time Warner Cable. We have two Cocker Spaniels. Oz is 9 and buff colored. Koko is 5 months old and Chocolate, tan and white.

Michelle Herring
This is Justin at age 11. He is now 12 and was just diagnosed on Sept. 4, 2003. Sister Katie age 10 is trying to be patient and understanding when the going gets a little rough. I am Michelle. I supervise while Justin gives 2 injections per day and several finger sticks I joke with him about being a human pin cushion.

The Hitchcocks
Jeff Hitchcock created and runs the Children with Diabetes web site. His wife Brenda helps. CWD is part of Diabetes123.com, and many people are involved in bringing the site to you. Marissa was diagnosed with type 1 when she was 24 months old. She's been using an insulin pump since October 1998.

The Hitz Family
Emmett was born in 1995 in New York City. He was diagnosed Type 1 in October of 2004. He has been pumping coZmo since April 2005 and is patiently waiting for that cure!
Emmett loves video games, Star Wars, skiing, penguins, Karate, and he is learning to play the piano. He is an exceptional student and looks forward to one day being an endocrinologist!

The Howard Family
Emma Howard is 7 years old and was diagnosed with Type 1 in September 2001. Her mother also has had Type 1 for 32 years. Emma is homeschooled with her 8 year old brother and can be seen on wishstars.com modeling several outfits - click on the Amazon link and search for "emma". She has been in several talent and beauty pageants and recently took 4th place in the talent competition. She plays soccer, volleyball and participates in Pom and Cheer competitions. Emma and her mom and in the process of getting on the pump.
