Lisa Tamayo
Hi to all,
Here is a recent picture of my son Joey. He was dx with type 1 diabetes in September 2001 and is now 13 years old. He is my Hero! He doesn't let diabetes get in his way at all! He is a straight A student, in Leadership, plays PopWarner Football, Basketball, and Baseball. There is really not much he doesn't do! Joey was put on the Cozmo Pump in 2/03 and is loving it! I also love it! His schedule is much more flexible. If any of you are thinking of sending your child to a camp this summer, I would highly recommend it! Joey has gone to a camp in Oregon for the last 2 summers and really enjoyed himself. He made a lot of good friends! We will be trying a new one this year since we have recently moved back to California. He can't wait!
Please feel free to email me! I would love to talk to other parents with children with diabetes.

Dara Thomas
Hello, This is Daylon Thomas he is 7 years old and was diagnosed with Type 1 in December 2001. Our local support group were fortunate to raise funds for the children to swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Quest here in Hawaii. They learned that dolphins do blood checks too!

The Turner Family
Meet Elena, 15 and Ben, 9 Turner. Elena was diagnosed in December of 1998. She's been MDI ever since, currently on Lantus and Humalog. Benjamin was diagnosed in February 2006. He is also MDI, on Lantus and Novolog. They both check their blood glucose between 8 and 10 times a day; and get anywhere from 4 - 8 shots a day.
Both of them handle their Diabetes beautifully, and have done a great job of incorporating it into daily life.
