For teens and adults: How often do you check your blood sugar before you drive?
Poll dates: February 21 - 28, 1999
Total Votes: 306
Experiencing hypoglycemia while driving can be extremely dangerous, to the driver with diabetes and to everyone on the road. Health care teams recommend testing your blood sugar before you drive. In spite of the risk, more than half of those who responded to this poll report testing rarely or never.
Symptoms of hypoglycemia can mimic those of drunkeness. If you drive, always keep fast acting carbohydrates with you in the car in case you feel low. And it's a very good idea to wear some sort of medical identification product that clearly states that you have diabetes. It could help save your life.
