How often do you use control solution to check your blood test meter? Poll dates: July 18 - 25, 1999 Total Votes: 518 Control solution is used to verify that your blood test meter is working correctly, and that the test strips haven't been damaged in some way (excessive heat, for example). Periodic testing with the control solution for your meter (they aren't interchangeable) will help ensure that your blood test meter is working as well as it can for you.
