Does your child have a 504 plan for diabetes care at school?

Poll dates: August 20 - 27, 2000
Total Votes: 750

In the US, children with diabetes are protected from discrimination at school by federal law. Any school that receives federal funding must accommodate the special needs of kids with diabetes. Parents define any special accommodations using a 504 plan and an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). WIthout a 504, school staff may not know about a child's special needs, so preparing a 504 is very important.

The Law, Schools, and Your Child with Diabetes reviews the laws behind these plans and includes a link to a downloadable Word document that can serve as the basis for a 504 plan.
