Do you attend retreats for diabetes support and education?
Poll dates: October 29 - November 5, 2000
Total Votes: 542
Living with diabetes is a constant challenge. As a parent, you want your child to lead a regular life, but you worry about high and low blood sugars and struggle with meals. As an adult, you have the same worries and more -- including dealing with diabetes on the job and the discrimination it can bring. Support groups and weekend retreats are a great way to meet new friends and learn ways to overcome the many challenges of living with diabetes.
If you're interested in attending a retreat, speak with your diabetes team. They might know of a retreat in your area. Also, contact your local American Diabetes Association and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation office and ask if they know of any. Sometimes diabetes camps hold weekend sessions in the fall and spring.
Our 2001 Conference and Expo, to be held at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida from July 18-22, 2001, will offer support, diabetes education, and lots of fun for families, adults with diabetes, clinicians, and researchers. We look forward to seeing you there.
