How soon do you tell new friends about having diabetes?
Poll dates: December 3 - 10, 2000
Total Votes: 619When to tell others about having diabetes is a very personal decision. Our poll suggests that most parents (68%) tell others about their childrens' diabetes right away, while less than half of teens and adults with diabetes do (45%).
Parents often need to tell other adults about their children's diabetes. For example, teachers and day care providers need to know about a child's diabetes in order to provide proper care for the child while away from home. Teens and adults who are capable of self-management, on the other hand, may not need to tell others right away.
