How many people in your immediate family have type 1 diabetes? Poll dates: October 14 - 21, 2001 Total Votes: 860 The majority of visitors to our web site report having only one child with type 1 diabetes in their family. Since most kids who are diagnosed don't have type 1 diabetes in their family, this makes sense. However, 30% of our visitors have more than one person in their immediate family with type 1 diabetes, showing that there is some genetic component.
