What is your opinion about injecting insulin and performing blood tests in public?

Poll dates: February 3 - 10, 2002
Total Votes: 936

Life with diabetes involves overcoming many challenges. Dining out, for example, means finding a place to do a blood test and inject insulin or take a bolus on your insulin pump. The overwhelming majority of people who responded to this poll feel that it's perfectly fine to test or inject in public, and that's as it should be -- there is no shame in taking care of diabetes. If someone near you feels anxious about it, use the opportunity to explain the importance of good control and the need for more funding to help find a cure.

This table compares the results of this poll with a similar poll conducted in November 1998:

Answer  2002   1998
It's fine, I test 84% 82%
It's fine, I don't test 6% 10%
I don't care 4% 3%
Not a good idea 4% 4%
