How many times per week do you or your child have a hypoglycemic episode that requires treatment?
Poll dates: March 31 - April 7, 2002
Total Votes: 609The fear of hypoglycemia is a constant source of anxiety for children with diabetes and their parents. Adults with diabetes often are more anxious about hypoglycemia than complications. About one-third of respondents had four or more episodes of hypoglycemia each week that required treatment, and another third had less than one. From the DCCT we know that with intensive therapy comes better blood sugar control and an increased risk of hypoglycemia. The challenge of any diabetes management plan is to keep blood sugar levels as close to normal as possible, while minimizing the risk of hypoglycemia.
We last ran this poll in December 1998.
