How satisfied are you with the diabetes care your child receives while at school or daycare? Poll dates: August 11 - 18, 2002 Total Votes: 388 Children with diabetes require medical care to remain healthy. The need for medical care does not end while the child is at school. The quality of care, and attentiveness to that care, varies greatly from school to school. In some schools, children with diabetes find a supportive environment in which in-class testing is encouraged. In other schools, kids with diabetes struggle to perform even basic self-care. Over half of people who responded (55%) reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the care their child received at school or daycare. Just under one in four (22%) reported being unsatisfied, an improvement compared with when we last ran this poll (see below). In Diabetes at School, we offer guidelines on all aspects of care at school, from our School Bill of Rights to our comprehensive Diabetes Management at School program, all with the goal of helping children with diabetes everywhere have the best possible experience at school. We last ran this poll in May 2000. The table below compares the results from that poll with the current results.
