How satisfied are you with the diabetes care your child receives while at school or daycare?
Poll dates: September 14 - 21, 2003
Total Votes: 430Children with diabetes require medical care to remain healthy. The need for medical care does not end while the child is at school. The quality of care, and attentiveness to that care, varies greatly from school to school. In some schools, children with diabetes find a supportive environment in which in-class testing is encouraged. In other schools, kids with diabetes often struggle to perform even basic self-care.
Over two-thirds of people who responded (69%) reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the care their child received at school or daycare, up from 55% in August 2002. Only 15% reported being unsatisfied, down from 22% last year. This shows that care for children with diabetes at school or daycare is improving.
In Diabetes at School, we offer guidelines on all aspects of care at school, from our School Bill of Rights to our comprehensive Diabetes Management at School program, all with the goal of helping children with diabetes everywhere have the best possible experience at school.
