Poll dates: December 21 - 28, 2003 Total Votes: 346 In Hypertension Management in Patients With Diabetes, researchers concluded that "There is an urgent need to improve hypertension care and blood pressure control in patients with diabetes. Additional information is required to understand why clinicians are not more aggressive in managing blood pressure when patients also have diabetes." The graph below shows how many of our readers are checking their blood pressure at home. More adults without diabetes are checking than are adults with diabetes (40% vs. 36%). Less than one in five teens are checking (17%), and only 6% of kids are checking. With manual and automatic blood pressure monitors available at most local and national pharmacies, anyone interested in checking blood pressure can do so.
