For insulin pump users, how often do you usually change your infusion set?

Poll dates: July 3 - 10, 2005
Total Votes: 349

Insulin pump users must change their infusion sets periodically to prevent infection and the build up of scar tissue at the infusion site. Over 60% of our readers report changing their sets every three days, a little more than last year (63% versus 60%). One in five report changing their set every two days.

Changing your infusion set more often reduces the risk of scar tissue build up, but also costs more money.

The table below shows how this poll compares with the results from the last time we ran this poll in 2003:

Response     Jul 2005     Jul 2004     Jul 2003
Every day 1% 2% 1%
Every two days 21% 20% 24%
Every three days 63% 58% 54%
Every four days 9% 8% 10%
Every five days or more 5% 10% 9%
