Poll dates: October 2 - 9, 2005 Total Votes: 604 There are many good blood glucose meters to choose from. In the past several years, we've seen people changing to meters that take smaller and smaller amounts of blood and which produce results in fewer and fewer seconds. We've also seen the number of people using photometric meters drop to almost none. Today, among our readers, the Abbott Diabetes Care Flash and LifeScan's OneTouch UltraSmart and OneTouch Ultra are the most used meters. A growing number of people (15%) report using a meter that is tied to their insulin pump -- either the MiniMed Paradigm Link (9%) or the Abbott Diabetes Care Cozmonitor (6%). These two meters communicate blood glucose data to their respective insulin pump to help the pump make decisions about the proper amount of insulin to deliver. If you're thinking about getting a new meter, review the features of the various meters to find one that best meets your needs.
