How many different basal rates do you use in your insulin pump for your main basal profile? Poll dates: March 12 - 19, 2006 Total Votes: 484 Pump users often wonder about how many different basal rates they need during the day to maintain optimum blood sugar control. Different diabetes teams offer different advice, and there seems to be no real consensus. So we asked our readers what they actually use. Just over half our readers who use insulin pumps report using four or fewer basal rates in their main basal profile. A significant number -- 22% -- report using seven or more basal rates.
