How many different basal rates do you use in your insulin pump for your main basal profile? Poll dates: March 9 - 16, 2008 Total Votes: 380 Pump users often wonder about how many different basal rates they need during the day to maintain optimum blood sugar control. Different diabetes teams offer different advice, and there seems to be no real consensus. So we asked our readers what they actually use. About 55% of our readers who use insulin pumps report using four or fewer basal rates in their main basal profile. A small number -- 16% -- report using seven or more basal rates.
