How many different basal rates do you use in your insulin pump for your main basal profile? Poll dates: March 11 - 18, 2009 Total Votes: 313 Pump users often wonder about how many different basal rates they need during the day to maintain optimum blood sugar control. Different diabetes teams offer different advice, and there seems to be no real consensus. So we asked our readers what they actually use. About 41% of our readers who use insulin pumps report using four or fewer basal rates in their main basal profile. One in five -- 21% -- report using seven or more basal rates.
