How often do you download data from your glucose meter at home?
Poll dates: April 7 - 14, 2010
Total Votes: 181
Almost all of today's blood glucose meters have on-board memories that store blood glucose data and data ports for downloading that data to personal computers. All continuous glucose sensors also do. Software provided by the meter companies analyzes the data and presents reports that can provide invaluable insight into how successfully you're managing your diabetes. Pie charts, for example, show the percentage of time spent hypoglycemic, hyperglycemic, and in range, and are a good predictor of your overall level of control
The various graphs and charts that are easily generated by today's diabetes management programs make it very easy to identify patterns, such as lows before breakfast or highs before lunch. Using that information, you can work with your diabetes team to modify your insulin dose to reduce highs and lows.
The poll's results show that most families are not using software to analyze their blood glucose data on a regular basis.
