Poll dates: September 22 - 29, 2010
Total Votes: 177
Today's blood glucose meters require tiny volumes of blood, can be used on alternate sites, produce results in a few seconds, and interface with computers to help you and your diabetes team analyze your blood glucose data. Some meters use technology that incorporates more than one strip within the meter, some require no coding, and one has a light that shines on the test strip for easier monitoring in the dark. Some meters act as controllers for an insulin pump. All of these features make it much easier to monitor your blood sugar than it was only a few years ago.
With all of the new features available, we asked our readers to tell us what they think is most important in a blood glucose meters. Small sample size was the most important feature, and is essential for alternate site testing. Second was pump controller, followed by light on the display and strip, fast test time, small meter size, and price.
