Does your child's school district train teachers, coaches and other non-nurse school staff to give insulin?
Poll dates: March 28 - April 4, 2012
Total Votes: 128
Children with diabetes both need and deserve to have their diabetes well cared for while at school. Due to budgetary issues, many children with diabetes attend schools without any medical staff on site and have to rely on others to help if needed -- including helping to give insulin. Unfortunately, based on this poll, very few of these kids -- under 20% -- attend schools that train non-nurses to give insulin.
Families who have schools that train teachers, coaches, and other non-nurse school staff to give insulin are encouraged to contact Crystal Jackson at the American Diabetes Assocation via email () to help with the ADA's advocacy efforts.
