CVS Signs On as Presenting Sponsor of John Ratzenberger's "Newport Under the Stars" Extravaganza

Event to Support Programs for Kids at Joslin Diabetes Center

Photo BOSTON and PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- CVS/pharmacy, the nation's largest retail pharmacy, has signed on as the presenting sponsor for the two-day fundraising event "John Ratzenberger's Newport Under the Stars" to benefit programs for kids at Joslin Diabetes Center. The exciting event will take place Sept. 25 and 26, 2005, in Newport, R.I. and will feature The Ratzie Regatta, a Star-Studded Dinner Auction and the John Ratzenberger Celebrity Golf Tournament.

John Ratzenberger, a popular actor, writer and producer, is the voice of many well-known characters in Pixar films; host and Executive Producer of the Travel Channel's John Ratzenberger's Made in America; and the embodiment of the know-it-all postman in the former TV show, Cheers. But it is his most important role as the family member of a person who has lived with diabetes since the age of four that has him dedicating this year to raising funds to help find a cure for diabetes. Ratzenberger is determined to put his celebrity status, many resources and distinctive voice behind the fight to find a cure.

John is personally working with CVS on the event. He says, "Right from the start, CVS has stepped up to the plate. We make a great team and I appreciate the significant resources they are committing to the fight against diabetes and helping kids with diabetes live healthy and happy lives."

CVS will be included in all print and advertising related materials, as well as have significant presence throughout the event itself.

"As a healthcare provider that offers pharmacy services to millions of families, John's commitment to the many kids and families served by Joslin Diabetes Center resonated with us," said Eileen Howard Dunn, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Community Relations at CVS/pharmacy. "Funds raised from Newport Under the Stars will have a significant impact on children with diabetes, and we're proud to be a part of this exciting event."

One in every 400 to 500 U.S. children and adolescents lives with type 1 diabetes. Helping these children grow to live full, healthy lives is inherent in Joslin Diabetes Center's mission and among its highest priorities.

Proceeds from "Newport Under the Stars" will support programs for kids at Joslin Diabetes Center, including diabetes research, pediatric clinical care and the Camp Joslin camping programs. To learn more, call 1-800-Joslin-1 or visit www.NewportUnderTheStars.com.
