Update About Dana Diabecare: November 2004:
In the lead article in the November 12, 2004 edition of the Wall Street Journal, entitled At Cigna, Some Patients Found Conflict of Interest in System, reporter Laura Johannes wrote that Dana Diabecare had set up a fake company to process insulin pump requests for Cigna, a major US health care insurance company. Specifically, the WSJ reported that "... doctors who wanted a pump from one of Dana's competitors for a Cigna-covered patient were forced to funnel their requests through a Dana employee. But the doctors didn't know this because the Dana employees used phony names and said they were 'benefit coordinators.'" Further, "Three state and federal agencies are in the early stages of probing Dana's operations."
