Mom's entry: Ruby and her friends arrived today! We were all so excited to see her! Ruby came out of her box ready for her blood sugar check (89) and a snack! After meeting everyone, Ruby, Emily, our big and little Ruby, and Emily's friend Arikka went outside to play.
Emily: Me and Ruby and my friend Arikka rode bikes together. When we went down the road, Ruby shook her head. Ruby stayed home when I went to my softball game. At dinner, Ruby was 181 and took 4 units. We had hamburgers for supper. Ruby took two naps when I played. Ruby will sleep with me tonight.

Emily: Ruby helped me do my chores and pick up the trash, too. Ruby had to stay home when I went to the pool. Ruby says, "Yes I did help Emily very much."
Mom: Good Morning, Ruby! She helped Emily do chores today. Emily went to the pool and Ruby stayed home and helped watch over Dereck. They even took a short nap together! Emily and Ruby spent the night at her friend Arikka's!

Emily: Ruby and me spent the night at my friend's house. Me and Ruby came home from my friend's house. Me and Ruby were 52 at breakfast. Ruby had to stay home again because I went to the pool.

Emily: Ruby stayed home when I went to my softball game. We won 12 to 4.

Emily: Me and Ruby are going to the newspaper shop. We will be in the newspaper!

Emily: Last night, me and Ruby slept in my brother's room. He don't like his bed made. Ruby was proud of me when I won my softball game.
Mom: Emily and Ruby were interviewed at our local newspaper, the Augusta Gazette, today.

Emily: Ruby took a lot of naps today.

Emily: Me and Ruby went to the pool.

Emily: Ruby and me went fishing today!
Mom: The girls outfished Dad! (Father's Day tradition, Emily and Dad go fishing, no boys! Just Daddy!)

Emily: Me and Ruby played on my swing set with my stuffed animals.

Emily: Ruby took two naps then we played.

Emily: Ruby and me had cake. Know why? Because it was my baby brother's birthday!
Mom: Dereck turned one! Grandma and Grandpa came to visit and treated us to dinner, too!

Emily: Ruby stayed home when I went to my game.

Emily: Ruby slept with me again last night. Ruby and me went to the pool today.

Emily: Ruby stayed home because I had another game. Me and my two friends and Ruby played hide and go seek and tag today. Ruby and me got tagged when we played.

Emily: Me and Ruby will be on tv on Monday because the newslady wants to know about her.

Emily: Ruby and me are excited because me and Ruby will be on tv on Friday. When me and not Ruby is at camp. Mom: Interview with KAKE Tv. Em read her journal and talked about how Ruby has helped her. Emily: Tomorrow Ruby has to stay home because I am going to camp.
Emily left a note for the journal prior to going to camp on June 25, 2002. Very sad to see Ruby leave!

Emily: Too bad Ruby couldn't come because I miss her alot.

Emily: I will miss Ruby alot, so will Ruby, too. I love her with all my heart. Ruby says, "I love you, too." Ruby likes everybody! I love you, Ruby!
Mom: Ruby stayed home to rest and help mom and dad while Emily went to camp. Ruby is ready and excited to go to California to be with all the other traveling Rufus and Ruby's! Emily gave Ruby a tweetie earring as a pin and an American Flag pin given to her by her great grandmother that she had kept on her kit bag since October 2001 along with a small sponge bear.
Thank you, Ruby, for enriching our lives and helping others understand type 1 diabetes! We will miss you! Safe Journey's and God's Speed!
