Rachel, who is four years old, received Ruby today. Ruby was greeted by Rachel's Ruby and Rufus. Rachel lives in Bastrop, Texas (outside of Austin) with her Mom (Melissa), her Dad (Chuck), her sister Sarah (12 years old), their dalmatian Perdita, a snake named Lou, and her fish named Soccer.

Rachel was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in February, 1999 at the ripe old age of 18 months. She received her pump in March, 2001. She loves her pump, which she named Blossom. Rachel is very active in her church and she plays soccer. She hopes to take Ruby to Seaworld and the Zoo while she is here. Ruby, Ruby, Rufus and Rachel played very hard today and slept great!

Rachel is very involved in her church. She attends First Baptist Church in Bastrop. Tonight she took me to church. Today, however, she went to the doctor and found out that she is getting sick again. She has ITP - Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura. ITP is a disease where her body is destroying her platelets and she bruises and bleeds easily. She goes back Monday to see what her platelets are and maybe receive a treatment. .

Yeah! Today we went to San Antonio. We went to Sea World and saw Shamu! We had so much fun. Shamu even held me for a picture. We saw whales, sharks, dolphins, beluga whales, sea otters, sea lions, and walruses. It was so much fun! I even got a souveiner!

Today Rachel went back to the doctor, and got great news. Her platelets are back up some! Hopefully she shouldn't have to get a retreatment soon! Yeah! We will have to see. Well, I am moving on to the next family in a day or two, so I better start packing!

We have had a great time with Ruby!
