The Wilkinson Family, Lancaster, New Hampshire
November 24, 2003
Ruby's second stop in New Hampshire is in Lancaster with Ryan, 7 years old, diagnosed with diabetes last June. Ruby is here to offer some comfort as Ryan is home ill and hoping to recover in time for his 8th birthday next week!
Thank you for sending Ruby our way! She's an inspiration and sign of hope to many! We attached a Red Sox pin to Ruby… Ryan's favorite baseball team.
Good luck in your travels, Ruby!

Ruby arrived at Lancaster School in Lancaster, New Hampshire on November 17th. She spent some time in our preschool with Emma Robinson, age 4, and a bunch of preschoolers full of questions about Ruby. She then went home with Emma to meet Emma's family. When Ruby returned to school, she went home with Ryan Wilkinson, age 7, and his family.
Unfortunately, Ryan wasn't feeling very well during Ruby's visit, but his mom tells me that Ryan really enjoyed listening to Ruby's stories. Ruby returned to school and spent a few days in the nurses office with me, Kristine Colborn, RN, the school nurse. While in my office, Ruby received many hugs and evoked a lot of conversations.
We would all like to thank Ruby for coming to visit and being such an ambassador for children with diabetes. She truly makes a difference!
Good luck in your travels, Ruby! We will miss you!
Kristine Colborn, RN
