Ruby arrived here Wednesday. She has been staying with me (Lindsay), my sister (Erica), my brother (Matthew) and my mom and dad. I am 9 years old and will be turning 10 in December. I was diagnosed in July 2001. I got the pump when I was 8 1/2. Ruby has been sleeping with the Rufus bear that I already have.
I rode her around my neighborhood on my bike. I showed her to my best friend, Chelsea. Ruby and Rufus are having tea parties together. Ruby is excited because we are going to Niagara Falls!

A couple of weeks ago, we brought Ruby to Niagara Falls, Ruby liked seeing the Hershey Store and liked walking around. We saw many things like new rides and a real live tiger. Ruby thought the falls were pretty. We took a picture by the falls.
We brought Ruby to Fatima, too. We walked up the stairs and took a picture by the statue of Mary. We also lit a candle and prayed for a cure for diabetes. Ruby looked at all the names of the people that have a plaque on the steps.
While we were at the house, me, Ruby, and Rufus sat down and watched tv. My dog, Duchess, got tired and fell asleep on the same pillow Ruby and Rufus were sitting on. Ruby didn't mind that Duchess was there.

On Monday, I brought Ruby to school with me. We took a map and put star stickers everywhere she's been. My teacher really loved having Ruby at school. She loved it so much she named her class Build-A-Bear Ruby. On September 11, we watched a show on the Twin Towers. We felt bad for all the people who died and their family members. Ruby thought it was really sad, too.
All good things must come to an end. The Appleman family was very happy and proud to share Ruby with our supportive family and friends. It's time now for Ruby to meet another family with diabetes. As sad as we are to say goodbye, we're glad to know she will get lots of hugs at her next family visit. Take care of her!

p.s. Bye, Ruby. I'll really miss you. Thanks for spending this month with me. I had fun.
