Rufus has been staying with our family for the last week. We were all very excited to have him. Danya was very pleased to see him and gave him lots of hugs and kisses, admired his clothes and badges, and lined him up with all her other teddy bears. So, things started well.
Then came time to test and inject Danya and Rufus. Danya, as always, willingly offered her little fingers for testing, and had her insulin without a problem. When it was Rufus' turn, Danya stood and watched the procedure with great interest, which soon turned to a look of shock. After that, Danya refused to have Rufus near her. Danya's Mommy and Daddy have spent the rest of the week puzzling about this uncharacteristic behaviour, and trying to reestablish the original bond, but to no avail.
So, unfortunately, Rufus has had to spend the majority of the week as an onlooker, or snuggled up to Danya's more social teddy bears.
