Back to Rufus Rufus Visits the Wong Family

The Wong family, Hanover, NJ
Katherine Wong, age 5

March 29, 2001
Rufus arrives in East Hanover, New Jersey. Katherine, age 5 and Mom went to pick him up at the Post Office. The whole way there we were yelling "Rufus, we are coming!" Katherine didn't want him to stay in the box too long. Katherine has checked his blood sugar and given Rufus a shot. Rufus was a little high at 282 for dinner. But otherwise he seems very happy here. Katherine's brothers, ages 8 and 9, are showing Rufus how to play video games now.

Our local newspaper called and they want to take pictures of Rufus and Katherine. Yeah! They are coming Tuesday. Today we are going to dance class. Rufus can watch us practice for the recital.

Poor Rufus. It is still rainy in NJ. Rufus wants to go outside and get some exercise. Katherine is letting Rufus borrow one of her little vests to wear as a coat so he doesn't get wet.

Katherine has decide to keep Rufus. Sorry everyone! April Fools! Although I am sure she would love to. Rufus has checked his finger and received every injection that Katherine has. Katherine is really enjoying this. Still raining. Where is Spring?

The reporter is coming tomorrow so we have spent the morning cleaning house. We want to be ready. Still cloudy and rainy. Supposed to be better later.

April 3, 2001
The reporter came to take pictures of Rufus and Katherine. The article should be in the paper next week. I will send a copy.

Good bye Rufus! Today we will take you to Bobby's (Katherine's brother) third grade class to meet everyone. Mrs. Preblicks' class is writing letter to Congress for us. Katherine is going to Washington DC in June for the JDRF Childrens Congress. Good Bye. We will miss you!
