The Probosco Family, Coopersburg, Pennsylvania
May 8, 2004
Rufus arrives at our home in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. Ryan (age 6, diagnosed June 2003) is eager to open the box and start reading where Rufus has been. Brother Eric (age 4) loves stuffed animals and wants Rufus to sleep with him a few nights.
Rufus had a fun time while here (though hectic). Ryan plays t-ball twice a week and school is almost out for summer vacation. We also got a puppy on May 30th. The boys have been asking for one for a long time. They named her Soapy Star!
Rufus got to meet a lot of our extended family, even went to the Poconos for a weekend to visit Ryan's Memom and Pop. Ryan was in kindergarten this year and was excited to take Rufus to school. I sat s impressed watching him explain to his peers about diabetes. He demonstrated using the glucometer and giving an insulin injection. Ryan did not want to do this at the beginning of the school year. I think Rufus was a great teaching tool.
Ryan really seemed to enjoy listening to the stories from the other families.
Thank you, Rufus!
