The Nystul Family, Heber City, Utah

Rufus arrived in Heber City, Utah today. Kell is thrilled! He immediately took over Rufus' diabetes care. Rufus won't have any thrilling adventures while he's here, but Kell will keep him BUSY! Kell is a busy boy, despite his diabetes, and has already taken Rufus on scooter rides all over the neighborhood. It's been a wonderful experience explaining Rufus to friends and strangers. Today Rufus has a dentist appointment with Kell and this weekend is going camping. We'll TRY and keep him presentable for the next family on his itinerary!

Good thing Rufus was here today! He made a traumatic trip to the Dentist much easier to take! Tonight Kell was HIGH at bedtime. Don't know if it was the dental work or what. Had to have an extra shot of R. Kell was not happy about this, but once I told him Rufus had to have one too, all was well. We love this little guy. We're going to be sad to send him on!

Rufus had an adventure high in the Rockies this weekend. Kell took Rufus on a campout up by Strawberry Reservoir at a place called Clyde Creek. It was raining when they started out, but the clouds cleared and they had a dry but cold night. Good thing Rufus was there to help keep Kell warm in his sleeping bag! And vice versa! Kell and Rufus built a campfire, went fishing and hiking and all the while both had great blood sugars. Nothing like the great outdoors.

Kell and Rufus went on a road trip today to visit Kell's aunt in Eagle Mountain, Utah, 100 miles round trip but Rufus and Kell were very good boys. They felt a little low before we finally got around to our dinner so Mom gave 'em both a snack and they were good to go.

Kell is a little sad this morning. Today is one of those yucky diabetes days when he wishes he didn't have it. He didn't want to check his blood this morning and he wanted to know if he would have diabetes even when he was bigger. It made him cry when I told him he would always have it unless we find a cure. But after a snuggle with Rufus and some talk about how he can still be a healthy, happy boy, things were better. Kell and Rufus are outside right now having a last scooter ride together and then we're off to the post office to sent him Rufus off to the Stamas' in Scottsdale, Arizona. Thank you CWD for sending this friend to visit us.
