Back to Rufus Rufus Visits the Fassler Family

The Fassler Family, Bayside, New York

photo Rufus arrived this afternoon, safe and sound from his trip from Rochester, N.Y. He was a little warm from his travels, but his sugar was fine. Jason got home from school and was so excited to see him. We introduced him to Jason's Rufus and they are all getting to know each other.

Rufus spent a quiet day at home while Jason went to school. Jason and his brother Gary had an opthamologist appointment this afternoon (his first since being diagnosed - exactly 6 months ago today). Told the people at the doctor's office about Rufus' arrival and his goal of raising diabetes awareness. Jason's eyes are fine and we were all glad to hear this.

photo Today is Father's Day. It is rainy and gloomy. We are having a party to celebrate Jason's birthday (June 6) and Father's Day. We introduced Rufus to Jason's aunts, uncles, cousins and Grandma and Grandpa. Told them all about Rufus and his role in spreading diabetes awareness. Rufus was the perfect bear. His blood sugar was great even though he had a small piece of Jason's birthday cake. (Wish I could say the same for Jason). It was a busy day, but a good time was had by all.

Back to school for Jason. Rufus is home keeping me company and waiting for Jason's return.

Rufus is spending his last day with us. Jason took both Rufus' out bike riding this afternoon. They all had a wonderful time. We told Rufus that he would be leaving in the morning for the Reilly Family in New Jersey.

We all had breakfast together as Jason got ready for his last day of school. Rufus has been the perfect houseguest. Enjoy your travels and keep spreading the word about diabetes. We will miss you.
