The Fox Family, Bristol, Vermont
March 2004
We waited a long time for this visit! Rufus surprised us on our doorstep in mid-March. As soon as we opened his travel box, everyone wanted to hold him. We made him a comfortable spot on the recliner in our living room for his stay with us. Our dog, Chance, didn't like this because that's usually his spot!
Rufus was here with us for a very important time of year in Vermont. Maple Sugar Season! Gramma and Grampa brought us to Dakin Farms to watch them make the maple syrup. Best of all, we got to sample all the yummy stuff they make there. We even managed to keep our numbers in line that day.
We had made plans to go to the Vermont Teddy Bear company, but Mom got really sick and we couldn't go. Maybe the next time Rufus comes back to Vermont, he could go. It seems that Rufus likes Vermont since he's been here before our visit. We were surprised to read that since where he visited the geese on a picnic is very close to our house, too.
All the kids at my mom's daycare love to snuggle with Rufus. They all want him to stay. They all know that he has a very special job to do.
April 2004
Rufus saw the snow fall today. It's supposed to be Spring, but it's still snowing here. We all had an Easter egg hunt today. Instead of candy, we got little toys and games.
Guess what happened today? My cat, Magic, had her kittens today. They are so small. They are soft and cute!
Today is Easter Sunday. We went out for dinner this year. We went to Fire and Ice in Middlebury. It's very fancy but they have a lot of cool stuff inside. Antiques and even an entire boat!
Well, we are getting ready to send Rufus on to his next visit with another family. Everyone here will miss him. We will pack him up in his travel box with extra hugs to last him during his trip.
Our family wishes all those he has met and will meet in the future the best of luck. We look forward to reading about his adventures on the Children with Diabetes website.
Good luck, Rufus. We enjoyed your visit!
Love and hugs, The Fox Family
