Support Groups in Texas
- A new parent support has formed in the North Dallas, Texas area. Our name is PSCD (Parents Supporting Children with Diabetes). Contact De Ann at (972) 519-8826 ext. 54744 for information.
- Parents Dealing With Diabetes is for parents who have children with Diabetes. We are located in Corpus Christi, Texas. We meet every 2nd Wed of the month 6:30-7:30pm at Driscoll Children's Hospital 3533 South Alameda Drive. We also have a monthly newsletter and arrange special events for Families with Diabetes. Any one interested can request a newsletter by contacting Kim @ 361-643-0428 or Soo @ 361-694-4004 or come to our meetings.
- Our mission at Tyler Type 1 Diabetes Foundation (www.TylerTypeOne.org) is to better equip insulin dependent people to live longer, healthier lives. We serve children and families living with Type 1 Diabetes (also known as Juvenile Onset Diabetes) in Tyler and the East Texas area. For people with Type 1 Diabetes, insulin is not a cure ... it's life support. We provide immediate assistance and one-on-one guidance for newly diagnosed families struggling to adjust to having an insulin dependent child. Other Type 1 parents help these families implement physician instructions (we don't give medical advice) using day-to-day scenarios and ideas for practical application.
We also offer monthly support groups and Diabetes 101 classes. Through this, we hope to empower those who are insulin dependent to make healthy choices every day. This will dramatically decrease the chances of complications in the years to come.
We also have an annual event that is an outreach to the community for awareness and fundraising. Please visit www.TylerTypeOne.org for all of our mission, services and events.
- the South Texas Juvenile Diabetes Association (STJDA) meets in the McAllen / Edinburg Area. This unique group was formed by parents of diabetic children for families with diabetic children. STJDA can be found at www.stjda.org or by calling 956 631 8903.
