This survey is now closed. Thanks to everyone who participated. CWD will be moving forward on creating a CWD Adventures program to meet the needs of adults and older teens with diabetes.
CWD, in conjunction with Santa Clara University and supported by LifeScan, is considering offering a 3-night, 4-day soccer camp the first week in August 2006. The camp would be for CWD teens ages 13-18 with any level of soccer ability from beginner through skilled. Kids with type 1 diabetes as well as their siblings are welcome. The camp would be held at Santa Clara University in San Jose, California. They have a very solid and well-established soccer camp program. CWD would be providing the 'diabetes and sports' education and diabetes care supervision to help kids manage their diabetes in the context of a rigorous sports camp. CWD staff would do night-time blood glucose checks. As with all CWD events, all meals would have plenty of healthy choices and all foods would have carb counts. The cost of the camp to each child would be essentially the cost of Santa Clara's regular soccer camp
We would like to determine how many kids are interested. If you would consider participating in the summer of 2006, please respond to this poll. Thank you!
Thank you! If you have additional comments or questions about soccer camp, please direct them to CWD Events Coordinator Laura Billetdeaux, at laura.billetdeaux@childrenwithdiabetes.com
