• Diabetic Kids Respond Better to ‘Can Do’ Than to Threats according to Nicole Palardy, MA, and colleagues at The University of Alabama.

• Immune System Protein May Protect Against Insulin-Dependent Diabetes

• Pancreatic Islet Transplants Set to Begin is from a Fall 1997 article published at Columbia University.

• Replacing Cells to Fight Disease describes how scientists at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), in collaboration with researchers at the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute (TESTI) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, have completed initial work to develop a membrane system, or biomatrix, that may prove highly suitable for human islet cell encapsulation.

• Transfer and Cloning of the Insulin Gene illustrates how the insulin gene is implanted into bacteria.

• The Insulin-Free World Foundation is running a Picture Postcard campaign to help put faces behind the statistics about diabetes.

• The Emergency Insulin Distribution Program collects and donates insulin, syringes and test strips to needy diabetics in countries around the world.

• The International Pancreas Transplant Registry collects data on all pancreas transplants performed worldwide, performs scientific analysis on collected pancreas transplantation data, and communicates information on pancreas transplantation to member institutions, the health care community, and the interested general public.

• Scot-Tussin makes sugar-free cold medications specifically aimed at people with diabetes.

• The British Society For Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes "shall advance education in paediatric endocrinology and related subjects by promoting research and disseminating the useful results of such research."

• The Diabetes Cafe at Virginia Mason Medical Center has information about diabetes and about their diabetes care programs.
